Fans saw a dandy of a game between the Inland Empire 66ers and High Desert Mavericks.

Starting pitcher Oscar Oglethorpe gave the Inland Empire 66ers a rock-solid effort. The Fremont, California native helped his team defeat the High Desert Mavericks, 3-2, at San Manuel Stadium. The winner in relief was Shawn Rice. He is now 5-2. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. Mike Wolf recorded the save for Inland Empire, his 12th of the season.

Left Fielder Dave Conner made an impact for Inland Empire, when he swatted a 2-run home run off António Ríos in the bottom of the third. For the contest, Conner went 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"Oscar showed what he's made of," said Inland Empire manager Kent Matthes.

With the win, the 66ers have a record of 39-37.
