The Lancaster JetHawks got a sterling performance from pitcher Walt Quick, but the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes still prevailed, 5-3. Quick came in in relief and pitched to 19 batters. Jonathan Craft picked up the win, lifting his record to 5-6 on the season. He struck out 6 and walked 3 in 6.1 innings, while yielding 3 runs. Ken Smith closed it out for his 6th save.

Ron Evans dealt the JetHawks a blow in the top of the third. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Rancho Cucamonga leading 1-0, Evans, who leads the CAL in hits with 89, hit a 1-0 fastball for a 2-run single.

"We were the better team," crowed Evans.

With the win, Rancho Cucamonga raised its record to 39-36.
