Bakersfield picked up a win at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark, bumping off the High Desert Mavericks, 9-2. Pitcher Randy Gordon was a major reason the Blaze emerged victorious. The Blaze improved their record to 34-33 by beating High Desert.

Pat Bancroft was 2-4 with 2 singles for Bakersfield. The 24-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring single off Randy Rose. It was his 42nd hit of the season.

"Randy gave us a heck of an effort," said Bakersfield manager Joe McEwing.
