San Jose turned a good effort from starter Juan Pérez into a win over the High Desert Mavericks at San Jose Municipal Stadium. The Giants won the game, 5-2. Enrico Ramírez earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 5-1. Hal Powell got credit for the save for San Jose. It was his 15th of the year.

San Jose took a 5-2 lead on Manny Gómez's 6th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Gómez hit in the bottom of the seventh, left High Desert pitcher Steve Young visibly frustrated.

Gómez called the win "a pick-me-upper."

With the win, the Giants hiked their record to 36-30.
