High Desert left fielder Johnny Anderson helped his team beat the San Jose Giants, 11-3. Anderson, who is tied for 8th in the CAL in runs scored with 37, went 0 for 1 for the Mavericks. Eric Hall earned the win, while 23-year old right-handed pitcher Dan Groves took the loss for San Jose. The Giants, now 34-30, have lost 4 straight.

The Mavericks got a big hit from designated hitter Chet Bryant. Facing San Jose pitcher Adrián Aguilar in the top of the fifth, Bryant pounded a bases-clearing triple to center. His 6th triple of the season put the Mavericks ahead, 10-1.

"It was great to come out and swing the bats," Anderson told the High Desert Observer.
