The Mavericks grabbed a win, 7-5, at Lake Elsinore Diamond, overcoming a fine effort from Lake Elsinore pitcher Eric Jackson. Jackson went 0 innings and allowed no runs. Josh Hughes snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 5 hits over 3.1 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. The second-place Mavericks hiked their record to 31-28.

High Desert used a timely hit from Bob Jennings to get the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mavericks ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it made an impact.
