Inland Empire used a superb performance from starting pitcher Mike Owens to down the Visalia Rawhide, 2-1. Sergio Muñóz, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. Getting the save was Kevin Jenkins, his 9th.

Dave Burnett had a big run-scoring double for the 66ers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Inland Empire leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from Ed Webb and swatted a double to left. It was his 11th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the 66ers ahead, 2-0.

Owens called the win the result of "everyone working in tandem."

By defeating Visalia, the third-place 66ers improved to 31-27.
