The San Jose Giants could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Ismael Lucero into a win. Instead, the Modesto Nuts prevailed, 8-2. Lucero threw 6.0 innings allowing 3 runs. Picking up the win was Greg Miller. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 10 hits. The left--hander struck out 3 and walked 5. With the victory, the Nuts upped their record to 33-25.

Juan Flores contributed a productive at-bat in the top of the fourth. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he reached on an error by the SS, driving in 1 run. His at-bat helped Modesto get the win.

"What a dismal performance," lamented losing manager Steve Liddle.
