The Inland Empire 66ers went home winners at Lake Elsinore Diamond, thanks in large part to starter Josh Freedman. Freedman stifled the Lake Elsinore Storm, enabling Inland Empire to grab the 5-1 win. Freedman got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 7 hits and walked 2 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. With the win, Inland Empire upped its record to 28-27.

Inland Empire second baseman Greg Benner helped his team get ahead early. In the top of the first, with the bases loaded, he hit a sacrifice fly.

"Josh did a nice job," said 66ers manager Kent Matthes.
