Shelton Leads Lancaster Past Inland Empire
|
The Lancaster JetHawks got a marvelous performance from pitcher Jeff Shelton. The left-hander kept the Inland Empire offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 5-0 Lancaster victory at The Hanger. Lancaster is now 34-20, 4½ games up in the South Division.
Shelton, who was born in Leavenworth, Kansas, threw 95 pitches over 8.1 innings, while allowing no runs.
Said losing manager Kent Matthes: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
