Rancho Cucamonga pitcher Gene Reid did his part in helping his team defeat the Inland Empire 66ers, 3-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. Rancho Cucamonga, at 16-19, sits in last place in the South Division.

Rancho Cucamonga second baseman Bobby Mills helped the Quakes go up, 1-0, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Mills hit a run-scoring single off Inland Empire pitcher José Quintero.

"Well, it's always frustrating to lose," said Inland Empire manager Kent Matthes.
