Stockton Gets Another L
Rancho Cucamonga starter Joe Groves pitched effectively against the Stockton Ports at LoanMart Field. The right-hander led his team to a win, 7-3. Groves, now 2-4, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing no runs. The Ports have now dropped 11 straight.

The Quakes got a big at-bat from second baseman Steve Gillespie. For the game, Gillespie went 1-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Rancho Cucamonga a 2-0 lead.
