Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark featured a tense pitchers' duel.

The Bakersfield Blaze downed the Lancaster JetHawks, 1-0, at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark. Stellar pitching by Cam Rice had a lot to do with it. The left-hander, who is tied for 10th in the CAL in innings pitched with 33.1, handcuffed his opponent all game. Ken Day closed the game out for Bakersfield, earning his 2nd save.

Rice made it look effortless. He scattered 4 hits over 6.2 innings, while racking up 11 strikeouts. The Bakersfield left-hander encountered little resistance from the Lancaster hitters. His season record is now 4-1.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Rice said.

With the win, Bakersfield has a record of 19-11. Lancaster falls to 18-12.
