Bakersfield Gets 13-4 Win
The Bakersfield Blaze had to overcome a big game from Rancho Cucamonga designated hitter Elroy Long to leave LoanMart Field with a victory. And they did, winning, 13-4. Long slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The winning pitcher was Stan Valentine. He's now 1-4. He went 6 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits for the Blaze. Derek Ball earned the save for Bakersfield.

Bakersfield used a clutch at-bat from Juan Chávez to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Blaze ahead, 5-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Chávez.

The loss drops Rancho Cucamonga to 11-15.
