The home crowd had a good time watching the High Desert Mavericks and Visalia Rawhide get after it.

A 5-RBI performance from the 24-year old center fielder Tony Gómez helped the Visalia Rawhide beat the High Desert Mavericks, 8-3. Ed Norton snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 4 hits over 3.1 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. José Alaniz earned the save for Visalia, his 3rd.

With Visalia leading 4-1 in the bottom of the seventh, Gómez hit a fastball from Eric Hall for a grand slam home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Rawhide ahead, 8-1.

"We played a good game and came out on top," said Gómez.

Visalia goes to 11-14.
