66ers Win at High Desert, 3-1
|
Sergio Román pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The High Desert Mavericks, despite Román's fine outing, dropped a 3-1 decision to the Inland Empire 66ers at Stater Bros. Stadium. The win went to António Ramírez in relief, making him now 1-0. Sergio Román took the loss for High Desert. Earning his 4th save of the year was Kevin Jenkins.
Inland Empire took a 3-1 lead on Dan Pond's 4th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Pond hit in the top of the ninth, left High Desert pitcher Pat Peterson visibly frustrated.
Pond said his team "played with determination."
The loss puts High Desert at 12-12.
