The Modesto Nuts powered past the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, 8-6, at LoanMart Field. Jesús Esplana went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3, to lead the charge. The win went to Jim Wood in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Walt West took the loss. Picking up the save was Kel Clark, his 5th.

The result might have been different, had it not been for 21-year old center fielder Jon Crow. Crow had a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the top of the ninth inning to put the Nuts ahead, 8-6. For the game, Crow had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

Esplana expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."

The Quakes drop to 10-11 and continue their mediocre start to the 2025 season.
