The home crowd had a good time watching the Bakersfield Blaze and San Jose Giants get after it.

The San Jose Giants defeated the Bakersfield Blaze, 8-4. Catcher Bob Jones deserved a large share of the credit. Jones was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice for the Giants. Ismael Lucero got credit for the win, improving to 2-2. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 7.2 innings.

With San Jose leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Jones hit a splitter from Chris Hall for a 3-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Giants ahead, 4-0.

"It's not about individual awards," Jones told a San Jose Daily News reporter after the game. "It's about winning championships. That's what we play for."

The Blaze drop to 9-9 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2025 season.
