Modesto Loss Tarnishes Fine Game by Esplana
The Stockton Ports withstood an impressive performance by Modesto third baseman Jesús Esplana to defeat the Nuts, 12-10, at Banner Island Ballpark. Esplana was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. The win was credited to Jim Rogers in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Cristóbal Mercado took the loss. The Nuts fall to 4-6 and continue their rocky start to the 2025 season.

Luis López went 1-3 with a double and 2 walks. He scored 2 times for Stockton. The 22-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 7-7 tie with a run-scoring walk off Ernesto Sánchez. It was his 8th walk of the season.

"Nice win for us," said López. "Now we'll go after the next one."
