Nuts Win with Late Rally
The Modesto Nuts beat the Bakersfield Blaze, 5-4, in 18 innings at John Thurman Field. Modesto first baseman Robinson Encarnación led the way. He was 5-8 with a home run, 4 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 runs. Modesto reliever Bhu Laput was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Joey Corbett took the loss. The loss drops Bakersfield to 6-3.

The Nuts got a clutch hit from right fielder Ken Davis. In the bottom of the 18th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Nuts.

"My job is to go out and play as hard as I can for the Nuts," said Davis.
