In a low-scoring tilt between the Lancaster JetHawks and the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, 24-year old left-handed pitcher Bob Johnson was the difference-maker. The Lancaster left-hander spearheaded the 1-0 win. Otton van Rey closed out the game, earning his 5th save. The JetHawks, now 8-1, have stormed out of the gates.

The Quakes had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the JetHawks going into the top of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old shortstop Steve Peterson came to the plate. Peterson hit a solo home run on a 0-2 fastball from Rancho Cucamonga hurler Josh Osborne. It was Peterson's 2nd home run of the year.

"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said Lancaster skipper George Lombard.
