Giants Shut Out Ports, 5-0

At San Jose Municipal Stadium, the Stockton Ports and San Jose Giants were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The San Jose Giants picked up a win at San Jose Municipal Stadium, downing the Stockton Ports, 5-0. On the mound for San Jose was right-hander Mike Thompson, who played a pivotal role in the win. At 5-1, the Giants have played well so far.
Josh Ford dealt the Ports a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with the bases loaded and San Jose leading 1-0, Ford hit a 3-1 cutter for a run-scoring single.
San Jose manager Steve Liddle commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
