The 2025 season did not get off to quite the start the Lake Elsinore Storm had hoped, with an opening day loss to the Inland Empire 66ers at Lake Elsinore Diamond. The final score was 8-1. Starting Pitcher Greg Emery was the top performer for Inland Empire.

Steve Prince hit a 2-run triple off David Dukeshire in the top of the fourth, which put the 66ers in front, 3-1. Prince had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 4.

Prince called the win the result of "everyone working in tandem."
