Flying Squirrels Rally Late to Clip Altoona
|
The Richmond Flying Squirrels faced a tough opponent in Altoona pitcher Jud Clayton, but did just enough to pull out the victory at People's Natural Gas Field by a final score of 4-3. Clayton went 6.1 innings and allowed no runs. Hal Powell got credit for the save for Richmond. It was his 4th of the year. The Curve, at 2-10, have stumbled out of the gate.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Luis Zúñiga? The 23-year old shortstop Zúñiga stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put Richmond up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Good teams find a way to win close games," Zúñiga said.
