Crowds lined up early in front of Memorial Stadium, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2025 Northwest League season. On the mound was Lou Adams for the visiting Hillsboro Hops and Greg Smith for the hometown Boise Hawks. In a spirited contest, the Hops pulled out the win, defeating the Hawks by the score of 4-3. Especially impressive was Greg Smith.

Hillsboro took advantage of an error in the top of the seventh inning. The game was tied, 3-3, when Jeff Bell hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Hops in front, 4-3.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Boise manager Jesús Amador. "But we decided not to take it."
