New Britain pitcher Ron Barr did his part in helping his team defeat the Portland Sea Dogs, 9-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the left-hander. Barr, now 2-1, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. New Britain goes to 6-6.

The Sea Dogs had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Rock Cats going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old shortstop Juan Ortíz came to the plate. Ortíz hit a 2-run double on a 0-2 curveball from Portland hurler António González. It was Ortíz's 3rd double of the year.

"No time for posing," said Ortíz. "The next game will be here before you know it."
