Flying Squirrels Score Late to Upend Mets, 9-7
Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Richmond Flying Squirrels take on the Binghamton Mets.

Binghamton first baseman Jon Johnson was sensational. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Richmond beat the Mets, 9-7. Robbie Sweet notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 4 runs on 4 hits in 2 innings. His record now sits at 1-1. Bob Gordon earned the save, his 1st.

Richmond took the lead, 5-4, on Jorge Morales's 1st double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Morales hit in the bottom of the eighth, made Binghamton pitcher Perkyn Rodriguez wince.

"Hustle and hard work is a big part of our success," said Morales. "Those qualities define our team."

Binghamton now is 3-8.
