The 21-year-old rookie on the mound turned out to be the least of the Lakeland Flying Tigers worries.
Giving a high-pressure playoff start to youngster José Cabral seemed like a risky move for the Flying Tigers, but it was one of the few things that went right at Joker Marchant Stadium. Cabral tossed 6 solid innings, but it was all for naught after Lakeland dropped a 3-2 decision. With the win, Dunedin took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 Round 1.
Dave Henley had a direct impact on the outcome. Henley contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Dunedin up, 3-2.
Henley said his team "played with focus."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland.
