Myrtle Beach Breaks Through for First Win in Round 1; Now Trails 2-1
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Winston-Salem Dash, winning, 7-4, at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. Pelicans second baseman José Rivera went 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The win cuts the deficit facing the Pelicans to 2-1 in the best-of-5 Round 1.

A key moment came with two out in the bottom of the first. That's when Rivera hit a curveball from Aurelio Thompson for a 2-run double, putting Myrtle Beach up, 3-0.

"We're happy," Rivera told reporters after the win. "When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat every game like it could be your last."
