Road Win Lifts Rancho Cucamonga to 2-1 Lead in R1
The 23-year-old rookie on the mound turned out to be the least of the Lancaster JetHawks worries.

Giving a high-pressure playoff start to youngster Jeff Shelton seemed like a risky move for the JetHawks, but it was one of the few things that went right at The Hanger. Shelton tossed 7 solid innings, but it was all for naught after Lancaster dropped a 5-1 decision. With the win, Rancho Cucamonga took a 2-1 lead in the best-of-5 Round 1.

Eric Columbus came through with a big-time hit for Rancho Cucamonga. The first baseman smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 3-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

Rancho Cucamonga manager Matt Holliday commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Hanger in Lancaster.
