The San Jose Giants started the Round 1 in dominant fashion, blowing out the visiting Bakersfield Blaze at San Jose Municipal Stadium by a score of 11-3 and securing an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Giants right fielder Sean Seals had a standout performance. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 4.

Seals contributed in the bottom of the first. With a runner on 1st, he hit a run-scoring double. It was one at-bat among others that helped San Jose get the win.

"We lost," Bakersfield manager Joe McEwing said later. "We'll deal with it. The series isn't over."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at San Jose Municipal Stadium in San Jose.
