Victory Takes Chukars to 29-19
|
The Idaho Falls Chukars spoiled a good performance by Helena designated hitter Rudy Lamb, bumping off Helena, 3-2, at Melaleuca Field. Lamb threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The Chukars, now 29-19, know that wins in August count the same as wins in September.
The Brewers had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Chukars going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 20-year old center fielder Edgardo Pumayugra came to the plate. Pumayugra hit a 3-run home run on a 1-0 changeup from Helena hurler Rudy Lamb. It was Pumayugra's 5th home run of the year.
"Whenever I help the team," said Pumayugra, "it sort of justifies my place on the roster."
