Guardians Come Up Short at ACL, 7-6
ACL catcher Doug Gary had a good game, even if his team did not. The Guardians dropped a 7-6 decision to ACL at Tempe Diablo Stadium. Gary was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2. Walt Gregory was the winner in relief. His record is now 3-0. The losing pitcher was Clarence Hill. Raúl Ortíz got credit for the save for ACL. It was his 2nd of the year.

ACL shortstop Mac Arroyo helped the Angels go up, 7-6, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, Arroyo hit a run-scoring single off ACL pitcher Clarence Hill.

"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Arroyo told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
