Harrisburg got a terrific performance from pitcher Jim Matthews, but it wasn't enough to beat the Akron RubberDucks. Akron won the Canal Park contest, 3-1. Matthews threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Renaldo León earned the win for Akron. He lasted 5.2 innings, allowing no runs on 5 hits, while striking out 7. With the win, he raised his record to 2-1. The victory puts Akron at 53-77.

Iván Jiménez drove in one run for Akron. The 26-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Jim Matthews. It was his 4th RBI of the season.

In postgame remarks, Jiménez hailed his team's "single-minded determination."
