Rock Cats Score Late, Topple Mets, 2-0
|
New Britain Rock Cats starter Mitch Galloway worked his magic, to help his team defeat the Binghamton Mets, 2-0. New Britain reliever Greg Belisle picked up the win, upping his record to 4-3. Dave Mata was saddled with the loss. Dave Francisco got the save, his 18th in 24 chances.
New Britain went up, 1-0, on Darrell Hawkins's 26th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Hawkins hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Binghamton pitcher Dave Hall shaking his head.
"Mitch was locating, throwing all of his pitches," said New Britain manager Gary Kendall. "He did a heck of a job."
After today's action, New Britain sits at 81-46, while Binghamton falls to 60-66.
