Rock Cats Take Home 2-0 Win Over Portland
New Britain Rock Cats starter Steve Nelson turned in a top-notch performance against the Portland Sea Dogs at New Britain Stadium. The result was a win for the Rock Cats, 2-0. Dave Francisco got the save, his 17th in 23 chances. New Britain has now won 3 straight, while the Sea Dogs have lost 5 in a row.

The Rock Cats got a big at-bat from right fielder Tim Stevenson. For the game, Stevenson was 1-4 with a home run. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 17th home run of the season gave New Britain a 1-0 lead.

New Britain manager Gary Kendall commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
