Akron 2-0 Losers to Thunder
|
Trenton picked up a win at Arm & Hammer Park, bumping off the Akron RubberDucks, 2-0. Pitcher Curt Watson was a major reason the Thunder emerged victorious. Watson, the winner, moves to 11-4. He threw 6 innings of 1-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 4 walks. Clarence Amdrade, credited with the save, is now 2 for 2 in save opportunities.
José Ríos had a big run-scoring triple for the Thunder in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Trenton leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a slider from Walt Ashley, who is tied for 10th in the EL with a 1.30 WHIP, and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Thunder ahead, 2-0.
Ríos called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
Akron, at 50-73, has lost 4 straight.
