The Reading Fightin Phils extended their winning streak.

Starting pitcher Dave Steward was a major factor in the 5-2 Reading Fightin Phils triumph over the Akron RubberDucks. Giel Adriaens came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. His record now stands at 4-3.

Reading took a 3-2 lead on Tad Moore's 21st double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Moore hit in the top of the eighth, left Akron pitcher Jake Cushingham visibly frustrated.

Said losing manager Keith Johnson: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."

Akron's current losing streak is now 4 games.
