The Reading Fightin Phils beat the Akron RubberDucks, 7-5, at FirstEnergy Stadium. Reading first baseman Jeff Dinnen had an outstanding performance. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Lou Roach got credit for the win, improving to 9-6. He allowed 5 runs on 10 hits in 6.2 innings. Michael Gunn recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 25 for 29.

José Gradillo dealt the RubberDucks a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Reading leading 4-3, Gradillo hit a full count fastball for a 2-run single.

When asked about his performance after the game, Dinnen said: "Like everyone else, I'm just doing my job."

The Fightin Phils saw their win-loss record go to 50-59. At the same time, the RubberDucks fell to 47-63.
