New Britain got a terrific performance from pitcher Brad Mason, but it wasn't enough to beat the Richmond Flying Squirrels. Richmond won the New Britain Stadium contest, 4-2. Mason threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Manny Reyes came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now stands at 3-3. With this game in the books, Richmond is 49-60, New Britain 69-40.

Wes García chipped in for Richmond, stroking a crucial run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning. For the game, the catcher was 2 for 5 with 2 doubles.

"We didn't let this one get away," said García.
