The Reading Fightin Phils could not turn a fine performance from third baseman Oscar Cotes into a win. Instead, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats prevailed, 8-6. Cotes was 2-4 with a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Greg Thomas was credited with the save, his 26th in 29 tries. The win gives New Hampshire a season record of 55-45.

Jody Johns helped out the New Hampshire cause in the top of the seventh inning with a bases-clearing double. For the game, the second baseman went 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.

"In this profession, you've got to put the good and the bad behind you quickly," Reading skipper Shaun Larkin said.
