Sam Taylor brought his A-game to help Portland defeat the Trenton Thunder, 5-1. Wilson Hernández recorded the save, making him 2 for 2. Portland is now 49-50, Trenton 53-46.

The Sea Dogs got a big at-bat from center fielder Bob Davis. For the game, Davis went 1 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 13th double of the season gave Portland a 2-1 lead.

"I thought we competed really well," said Sea Dogs manager Stu Cole. "I thought the energy was really good."
