The Binghamton Mets had to overcome a good performance from Harrisburg pitcher Steve Strouse to claim a 3-2 win at Metro Bank Park. Strouse went 7 innings and allowed 3 runs. The winning pitcher was Joe Collins. He's now 2-6. He went 5.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits for the Mets. Steve Thompson notched his 3rd save in 4 chances.
Binghamton used the hitting of Albert Vélez to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Mets on top, 3-2. For the game, Vélez had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"It was a good night for them and a bad night for us," said Harrisburg manager Joe Mikulik.
The Mets improved their record to 43-47 with the win over Harrisburg.
