Mets Raise Rally Flag, Beat New Hampshire, 7-4
|
Binghamton starter Dave Mata pitched effectively against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at NYSEG Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a win, 7-4. Mata got the win, improving to 2-3. He gave up 7 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. He allowed 4 runs. Steve Thompson got the save, his 2nd in 3 chances.
Had Noel Hogan not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Hogan hit a 2-run single. That made the score 6-4, in favor of the Mets.
"Feels good to get the job done," Hogan said after the game.
Binghamton goes to 42-47, New Hampshire to 44-45.
