The Portland Sea Dogs had to overcome a fine effort from Akron pitcher Orlando Galindo to win, 5-3, at Hadlock Field. Galindo went 7 innings and allowed 3 runs. Portland now sits at 42-47, while Akron falls to 36-52.

Portland got a clutch hit from Bill Lovatt. The second baseman launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.
