Flying Squirrels Handle Akron, Snag 7-2 Win
The Richmond Flying Squirrels picked up a win at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium, taking down the Akron RubberDucks, 7-2. Starting pitcher Manny Pérez was a big reason why. With the win, Richmond has a record of 39-47. Akron falls to 34-50.

Jonathan Walters had a big 2-run double for the Flying Squirrels in the bottom of the first inning. With Richmond leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a forkball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Álex Icaza and swatted a double to right. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Flying Squirrels ahead, 3-0.

"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Walters. "Just do my job."
