Sea Dogs Get 9-3 Win Versus Binghamton
|
The Binghamton Mets and Portland Sea Dogs left the fans buzzing.
The Portland Sea Dogs picked up a win at Hadlock Field, knocking off the Binghamton Mets, 9-3. Starting pitcher Ed MacFadden played a key role in the triumph. MacFadden, now 4-12, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 9, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs.
The Sea Dogs got a big boost from shortstop Phil Hopkins who had a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the bottom of the first inning off Mets hurler Quincy Todd. It was his 40th RBI of the season and put Portland on top, 1-0.
Hopkins told a Portland Bulletin reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
By defeating Binghamton, the 4th-place Sea Dogs improved to 40-43.
