In a low-scoring contest between the Bowie Baysox and the Altoona Curve, Elvis Casey was the X factor. The Bowie left-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. Casey, now 6-4, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Ken Cooper notched his 7th save in 10 chances.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Wally Clark? The 24-year old left fielder Clark stroked a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Bowie up, 3-1. For the game, he was 2 for 2, including 1 double and 1 single.

Casey attributed the win to his team's "concerted effort."
