Led by Bob Crouch, the Binghamton Mets defeated the Portland Sea Dogs, 5-3. Crouch, a native of Temple, Texas, went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Mets. Earning the save was Luis Lucero. He's now cashed in 5 of 7 save opportunities. The setback makes Portland 37-41.
There was more than one reason the Mets beat the Sea Dogs, but Crouch's big at-bat in the top of the second was an important factor. He staked his team to a 1-0 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
"Every time I go up there, I try and hit a ball hard," said Crouch.
