Fightin Phils Pocket 5-2 Win Against Altoona
|
Reading Fightin Phils starter Josh Davis was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Altoona Curve, 5-2. Davis, now 6-8, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Earning the save was Tony Martínez. He's now cashed in 11 of 14 save opportunities.
Reading first baseman Johnathan Santos contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a cutter to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 52nd hit of the season and put the Fightin Phils ahead, 4-2.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Santos said after the game.
With the win, the Fightin Phils hiked their record to 41-36.
